Use geocell.

The technology of slopes strengthening.

  On application of geocell «KOMETA-2001» for slopes strengthening a number of operations should be done:
  1. The surface of slopes are planed and compacted and it is checked according to its geometrical and other parameters.
  2. A protective layer (an inverse filter) made of nonwoven geotextile material (in underflooding zone) is laid if necessary.
  3. The borders of sections laid are marked.
  4. The borders of sections are combined with patterns with the size equal to parameters of geocell module in expanded state.
  5. Anchors with the length 600-900mm are placed on the marks on the patterns. The anchors are made of high-strength plastic materials, metals or wood. The material of anchors, their length, installation diagram repeatability of their using are determined by the project and depend on ground geological, hydrological conditions and slope grade.
  6. The geocell module should be stretched to anchors which are placed on the borders of sections.
  7. The anchors inside sections are placed if necessary.
  8. The same operations are made on adjacent sections.
  9. Geocell cells are filled up with the help of an excavator or a loader. The fill is planed by hand, the fill is compressed till the protective layer is 2-3 cm.
 10. The anchors are extracted after cells filling for reusability if necessary.
 11. Geocells laying is recommended to do top-down closing up in its upper part to track of ground 30-50 cm beneath the surface..
 12. If the geocells are fixed with the help of synthetic ropes the geocells are delivered with holes in their sides.

The usage of geocells «KOMETA-2001» in constructions of pavement.

  1. The height of geocell should be not less or equal to h=15 cm.
  2. At calculation of rebound deflection criteria of pavement the modulus of elasticity of the layer "fill + geocell" should be raised. The amount of rising should be fixed according to experimental data received by the procedure stamp test on the layer "fill + geocell". Rough value of raising the modulus of elasticity of the layer "fill + geocell" with sandy fill is 400 MPa, it is equal to 1000 MPa with crushed stone.
  3. The foundation before geocell laying should meet geometrical parameters, degree of compaction and the quality of the material of the project.
  4. The marking of borders of sections laid should be done on the foundation. Patterns with the dimensions equal to parameters of geocell module in expanded state should be placed on the confines of the sections. Temporary assembly anchors should be placed on the marks on the patterns. Anchors should be placed in each cell along outer border and anchors should be placed through a cell along adjacent borders.
  5. It is better to fill geocell cells two stage:
  - the first stage is filling of end cells of each section by hand, then assembly anchors can be moved away.
  - the second stage is filling of the other cells after the manner away from moving the material of the fill with the help of fork-lift truck or making the material even with the help of bulldozer. Technical equipment can be shifted only after the cells will be filled not less than 5 cm above the geocell. Fill compression should be done with the help of vibration rollers or rollers of pneumatic machines according to the requirements of Sanitary standard.

  Nowadays geosynthetic materials are widely used in transport, hydrotechnical and other spheres of building. They are used for stabilization of road embankment foundation, at strengthening of slopes of highways and trunk-railways, for landscape work.
  The technology of using geocells is simple and does not require usage of special machines. This fact as well as their low price and possibility to produce geocells of any size and construction open up possibilities to use them in new spheres.
