  As enterprise «Kometa», has worked out the technology of welding of needle-punched polyester linen, in the year of 2000 Belarusian road-builders suggested making geocells for road slopes and overpasses strengthening with the following characteristics:
  1. The geocell has three-dimensional cellular structure, made of strips of unwoven linen welded together in staggered order.
  2. The material of the geocell is agreed with all demands of geotextile (filtration factor, strength characteristics and so on)
  3. Linen rigidity is sufficient for manufacturability of geocell cell filling.
  4. Weld strength is agreed with Sanitary standard 3.06.04-91 (see the table).
  5. The price is lower than of Russian and foreign analogues.
  As a result the equipment was made and manufacture of geocell made of polyester needle-punched linen Kometa – 2001 was begun.

The structure of geocell «KOMETA-2001».

  Geocell «KOMETA-2001» has three-dimensional cellular structure, made of strips of polyester needle-punched linen with the thickness 4,5 mm joined together with the help of welded seams of high solidity. When stretched in working plane it has a frame horizontally and vertically firm, which is used for reinforcement of the ground, crushed stone, sand and other building materials that fills geocell cells. Geocell is neutral to aggressive surroundings and for environment. Due to fibrous structure of the material geocell does not prevent soil from water filtration, plant roots grow through it and it agrees with the soil completely. The material of the geocell withstands temperature from -50 to +150 and it allows using the geocell in different climatic conditions.

The advantages of the geocell «KOMETA-2001».

 Economical effect at using geocell «KOMETA-2001» is manifested in:
- the price of 1sq. m is 2 or 3 times lower in comparison with geocells made of polyethylene strips;
- the layers of ground or of building material (module of elasticity, distributing possibility, erosion stability) which are strengthened by the geocell «KOMETA-2001» have higher mechanical characteristics. These characteristics are conditioned by 2-3 times excess of wall friction of the fill against geocell walls with fibrous structure in comparison with the parameter of geocells made of polyethylene. This factor is fundamental as it influences on improvement of mechanical properties of strenghthened layer in spite the fact that geocells «KOMETA-2001» lose a little geocells made of polyester in value of physical characteristics.
- maintainability and longevity of slopes of earthwork strengthened by geocell «KOMETA-2001» is higher as plant roots grow through geotextile geocells walls that is not typical to polyethylene geocells.
